A day by the pool

Well it was our last full day on St Kitts.  We had breakfast, bought gifts for people and laid by the pool.  It was a very relaxing day!  We are going to one last nice dinner tonight and then going to lay by the pool in the morning.  We had a blast, despite a few setbacks (like American Airlines and Earl) but had a wonderful time together.  Definitely brought us closer!  We are both looking forward to getting home though...not going back to work but seeing our pups (all 3+1+1 of them!) and of course the family!  We will talk to everyone tomorrow!!!

Flyin' High Over St.Kitts!

Well, just got back from the zipline tour, it was awesome! Definitely one of the most amazing things I've ever done, 4 different lines with speeds up to 40 mph. I'm so proud of Lara of coming over her fear of doing this, we both will never forget it. Met some very nice people on the way there and had a very interesting local come back with us......had some good stories. With only a couple more days in "paradise" we are going to soak up as much sun as we can, maybe another activity for tomorrow, we'll see. Well, off to the pool for a while to catch what's left of the sun! Will post video and pics from today soon.

Tour of the island, Brimstone Fortress and more!

Well, thankfully, no Fiona impact here at St.Kitts, just a bunch of clouds and light rain. Headed down to the lobby to rent a car this morning only to find out they were out of cars. No worries, just had Avis come pick us up within 20 minutes and we got a car from them. Very wierd driving on the left side of the road dodging potholes and goats for most the drive. Still, very nice to get around and see what the island had. Went through some very interesting parts of town, some rather poor parts as well but saw some beautiful countryside and plantations. We stopped off at Brimstone Fortress around lunch time and it was really great, walked around, all the way to the top gun firing deck and took some really great pictures....posted on Lara's Facebook. After that, continued around the island to the south east tip of Cockelshell Bay, couldn't find Shipwrecked, a local restaurant so headed back to hotel for another serving of the Pizza Shack. It was really nice to get out and about, we have the car till tomorrow morning at 11:30am so may get up early and go somewhere, maybe to the capital to look at the shops. Anyway, off to the Royal Grill tonight for dinner, really nice steakhouse here at the hotel. New pics on Lara's Facebook. Zipline tomorrow morning!

The Aftermath of Earl.......Poolside and Dinner

Well, Hurricane Earl has come and gone and the sun is shining bright. The pool wasn't completely ready for use by 10am this morning but everyone still got in, a little stir crazy from being inside all day from the weather. After a good 4 hours by the pool, couple drinks and lunch, came back up to the room for a little rest. Looking to go out to dinner tonight at the Shiggity Shack, a local joint about 5 minutes up the road from here, most of the restaurants in town are closed because of the weather. We plan on renting a car tomorrow morning, head to Cockelshell Beach which is the best on the island and also going to explore other areas. Zipline is planned for Thursday, maybe some hiking Friday. Most important, just enjoying the time here with the one I love most. New pics are on Facebook. Talk to everyone soon!

Bring it on Earl!!!!

Well, after breakfast this morning, we headed to the pool for a couple hours, had a couple drinks and relaxed as the Marriott staff staretd to prepare for Earl coming in later tonight till tomorrow morning. After our fries and pizza, we went back up to the room and then came back to take some pictures of the local scenery, beaches, etc. It looks like we are stuck inside for the evening as Earl has forced closure of most everything around so maybe another crazy night of Lifetime movies......maybe some Burn Notice or Law and Order, who knows, we shall see. Wish us luck!

Sunday in St Kitts

We are watching Hurricane Earl and Fiona, keep your fingers crossed we just get rain.  We are going to see if any of the shops are open today and maybe take a taxi to town since it is a bit overcast here.  We had a crazy night of watching Lifetime movies last night :)  It is very hot and humid so spend a few hours by the pool and then go back to the room for a while.  Will post later :)

Luggage Arrived........Day at the Pool!

Well, our luggage FINALLY arrived yesterday morning at about 9:30am, can't tell you what a relief it was to both of us to have our clothes, never been so excited to have luggage! Anyway, after we got our stuff, we unpacked, changed and immediately headed for the pool at about 11am. It was pretty hot and humid so most the time was spend in the water, had a couple drinks and just relaxed for the day. I went over the ocean later in the afternoon and did some swimming too. The sun took a little bit of a toll on both of us as our shoulders and back are pretty red so now we look like the tourists who didn't put enough sun block on :-) Oh well, still a great relaxing day. We came back, took a nap, went out to dinner at this great Italian restaurant in the hotel, then headed back to the casino where we proceeded to donate more money back to Marriott, not much luck in there for us so we will be staying away for a while. We scheduled a couples spa....yes, a couples spa on Tuesday and have a boat trip to Nevis planned for Monday. Had some breakfast this morning, now just getting ready to head back out to the pool for a few hours, have a Miami Vice or two and have another nice relaxing day. I can't post pictures on this blog site because of the computer we are using but we will try to upload some on our Facebook soon.

Welcome to South Beach!!

Well, we have arrived in Miami just a few minutes ago......our flight this morning went by very fast because we just passed out on the plane.......maybe it was because we finished our spring cleaning at 1am.....Lara took a short cat nap this morning.......got to the airport this morning at 3:30.....yes, 3:30, ticketing and security didn't open till 4:15, we were the first ones through security and Lara set off the alarm with her earings and our camera bag had to be inspected......oh yeah, we held up the line, now just waiting on our flight to St.Kitts, can't believe we are only hours away from paradise, we will post some pics tonight.

Preparation Mode!!!!

It's less than 12 hours before we begin our journey to St.Kitts in the Caribbean, we have been looking forward to this for months and I have been looking forward to an actual vacation for 6 years......my last one was in Scotland, not tropical to say the least so going somewhere where I can just plop down on the sand, drink something fruity with an umbrella in it is going to be great! Tonight is all about getting ready, finish packing, buy a few more things at the store, deep cleaning of the house, spend some time with the pups before we go, make our lists for Lara's parents.....I'm sure I'm missing something but we will probably figure that part out after we take off from D/FW airport tomorrow at 5:30am.
